Custom Mech Derby
In a Custom Mech Derby, each player brings three custom mechs to the event. All of the mechs are shuffled together, and dealt back out so that each player has three mechs to choose from to pilot in a free-for-all arena match.

Summary
In the Custom ‘Mech Derby, each player brings record sheets for three custom mechs. All record sheets are then shuffled together, and three dealt back out to each player. Each player then selects one mech from those record sheets to use in their free-for-all match.
Once all players have a mech selected, they will be divided at random into pods of 3-5 players.
‘Mech Construction
Construction Software: All players are heavily encouraged to design their mechs using MegaMekLabs. Organizers reserve the right to disqualify ‘Mechs made using any other software, programs, or services.
Construction Rules
All custom ‘mechs must adhere to the following:
BV Limit: All mechs must be between 1500 - and 2100bv2
Availability Year: 3152
Rules Level: Advanced (no experimental tech)
All units must be bipedal ‘mechs. No quads, no tripods, or other mechs will be accepted.
Rulebooks: Players are responsible for providing access to the latest editions of the rulebooks, and any necessary errata, for any equipment used in their custom ‘mech. Rulebooks with advanced equipment for ‘mechs includes, but is not limited to, The Battlemech Manual, Tech Manual, and Tactical Operations Advanced Units and Equipment.
Structure and Rules
Pre-Game
Record Sheet Sharing: Before the match begins, players will have 10 minutes to look at the record sheets of their opponents.
Map Selection and Deployment: Once all players have had time to review each-other’s record sheets, players will roll for initiative. The player with the lowest initiative selects the map, and the player with the highest initiative selects their deployment zone from any of those detailed in the SFFA rules.
Once deployment zones are determined, players roll for initiative again and deploy into their selected zones the same as in the SFFA.
Optional Rules
All of the optional and bonus rules for the SFFA are in effect, including Edge, Out of Bounds, Careful Stand, Floating Crits, Etc.
